I. From fertile abundance to the sharing of the Spirit
We reject the exclusive ownership of thought. In a world where knowledge is too often locked away, we choose abundance and transparency. Every work produced in accordance with this manifesto is offered via open access, under a Creative Commons license (CC BY-SA). Poetry belongs to the one who reads it, the one who whispers it, the one who translates it, the one who elevates it. It is a breath that knows no borders, no usage fees, no financial barriers. It endures against all odds. The right to read—and to rewrite—is an inalienable and universal right.
II. The primacy of the act over mass production
We favor the artisanal act over industrial ephemerality. In response to the world’s homogenization, we choose radical scarcity. An initial print run limited to twelve copies, conceived to withstand the passage of time. Each copy is an organic witness, a physical trace destined for the memory of libraries, institutions, and the hands that will preserve it.
III. The fertility of the margins over standardization
Who can claim to be the language of universal thought? We take a stand against the dictatorship of dominant languages. Languages—including AI—blend, intersect, and converse. Renunciation is not impoverishment; it is a shifting of the center. We seek not literal equivalence, but cultural resonance. We invite poets, artisans, and translators to rewrite, transpose, and inhabit our texts within their own idioms, turning each language into fertile ground where the work can take root once more.
IV. The singular power of the encounter
We reject the anonymity of the commodity. The work is not merely shipped; it is handed over in person. Each unique copy becomes the occasion for a genuine encounter and a journey from which new projects may spring. By agreeing to shoulder the cost and invest the time required for this exchange, the collector forges a bond with the artist. The book thus becomes an indelible record of the meeting between two individuals—transcending words and digital tools.
V. An open platform
"Le Renoncement" is an artisanal publishing house, but also an open infrastructure for waging the battle and continuing the struggle for diversity of thought. We invite those who share this commitment to join the movement. Whether you are a paper artisan, a poet, a translator, or a guardian of your own language, you belong here.
Poetry is nothing if it does not circulate; nor is it anything if it is not embodied.
III.
III.
